Dealing with Menstrual Cramps:

Menstrual Cramps is the single greatest problems faced by most of the women in the world. Menstrual cramps mostly begin at about age 15. Most suffers break free of the malady after they are married and raised children. One good way to reduce the cramps is to stop being sedentary and overweight. Some other preventive tips are listed below:

  • Try to eat smaller, more frequent meals instead of eating three large meals, eat five or six small meals a day, each about two and a half hours apart.
  • Reduce intake of coffee, black tea and decaffeinated coffee especially before the arrival of your menstrual period
  • Regular exercise such as walking helps to prevent or at least reduce the severity of menstrual cramps for some women.
  • Yoga and abdominal massage may help.
  • A warm bath filled with aromatherapy or a heating pad on your lower abdomen and back is often helpful for relieving menstrual cramping.
  • Adequate rest at night is also useful. It equips the body to function in a better and more normal way.
  • Good menstrual hygiene is also necessary.
  • Some women find that the use of tampons worsens their condition. They should switch to sanitary napkins.
  • To prevent water retention that causes bloating. Also, avoid liquor and other alcoholic beverages to reduce headaches.
  • Take painkillers with food to prevent stomach discomfort.

If the problem persists despite medications, consult your doctor for further evaluation.
